Giggle becomes official Fiat Yamaha Team scooter

The fantastic and unique-styled Yamaha Giggle has been given a thorough stamp of approval thanks to its official adoption by the Fiat Yamaha MotoGP team. The retro-sculpted 50cc fuel-injected four-stroke will carry the personnel of the factory squad around the circuits and paddocks of the 2008 MotoGP championship and no doubt the manageable engine (Yamaha’s only 50cc fuel-injected unit) and 33 litres of storage space will come in extremely useful, while the funky looks ensure that heads will be turned, and not only because of the individuals at the controls.

Indeed both riders have already customised their Giggle. “I like my brand new Giggle scooter I am using at the MotoGP paddock because it is different than the others, pretty different than all those I have seen and I have had in my life!” said Lorenzo, recent winner of the Portuguse Grand Prix. “It is very comfortable, the design is beautiful, the colours -above all the blue- are incredible and I love the customization with my “48“in gold and black. With that scooter you can peacefully drive in the paddock area. It is also fast and sometimes it helps when you must move from the pit-box to the hospitality or motorhome. You can easily run into the corners and you do not have to worry about anything! I would like to remind all ‘young riders’ to wear a helmet with any kind of scooter or bike! The street is more ...>>
Rolling into town: The Yamaha Scooter Roadshow

Yamaha’s Scooter Roadshow is a fantastic new initiative kicking into life this spring that actually brings the convenience and pleasure of riding one of the 15 models included in the display, from 50 to 500cc, directly to the public.

Curious visitors to motorcycle shows across the UK, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium this spring will not only be introduced to the delight and ease of Yamaha’s scooter range, but also find out the easiest and safest way of getting one of these vehicles on the road. Aside from providing the novelty of actually steering one of the bikes, the promotion rig will have information on insurance, road regulations, taxes, advice on safety and help for beginners.
For those continually frustrated by traffic or the grind of the daily commute, the Roadshow aims to put a new spin on habitual travel chores that can now actually be a lot of fun! ...>>

Yamaha’s scooters are again retaining a lofty profile in the world of road racing. For the third year in a row the busy and glamorous environment of MotoGP will see the JogRR scooter buzzing around the eighteen circuits of the 2008 series as the official paddock bike. The styling and technology of the JogRR means that the scooter neatly fits into this sphere of technology, competition and reverence. The liquid-cooled 50cc engine accommodates those with a heavy throttle hand, anxious to reach the other side of the venue or people content to cruise around admiring the exclusive setting of the world’s premier motorcycle racing competition.

12 inch alloy wheels, supple telescopic front forks and a precisely calibrated single rear shock add to performance while a tight, short-wheelbase and viable chassis dynamics combine with highly responsive braking (190mm hydraulic front disc and 110mm rear drum) and the JogRR’s lightweight of just 79kg to deliver crisp, safe and enjoyable handling. The blend of aesthetics (with new 2008 MotoGP graphics) and potency, without sacrificing comfort, enforce Yamaha’s continuing status with the JogRR in MotoGP.

Aerox Race REplica

For dedicated Yamaha fans the new ‘Aerox Team Yamaha Race Replica’ brings a strong connection with the MotoGP team directly to the street. The distinctive colour scheme leaves admirers in no uncertain terms that this is a scooter affiliated with the prestige of the Fiat Yamaha factory squad and associated with the dazzling technology of the M1 racing machine.

The 50cc liquid-cooled engine may lack a few ‘horses’ compared to the track tool used by Rossi and Lorenzo but handling precision and easy manoeuvrability are both assured by a lightweight, rigid chassis, with high-grip 12inch tyres and disc brakes front and rear ensuring that for the busy city streets the Aerox Team Yamaha Race Replica would enjoy ‘pole position’. The bike has extra special touches in the forms of an aviation-style filler cap, sizeable underseat storage for a full-face helmet and racebike-inspired analogue instrumentation.

Tanzanian Trek 2008: Mission accomplished

The HARAMBEE project in the town of Dar es Salaam in the depths of Tanzania was able to begin construction last month after an unusual gift from Fiat Yamaha racer Valentino Rossi was carried by a small group of Yamaha-mounted Italians almost 1300km into central Africa.

‘The Doctor’ trusted his charges with a small box, presented to the envoys at Losail and the Grand Prix of Qatar in March. A trio of riders equipped with two Yamaha WR250Rs and a XT660Z Tenere then ventured into the African wild to deliver their goods and be spell-bound by the country, landscape, people and charity ventures they would encounter on their trek of one week.

The trip was not without incident as storms, intense off-road excursions and even injury threatened to derail their hopes of arriving to Dar es Salaam where a group of workers were anxious to receive them.
