Pole for SRT after ultimate jump of Soulet

It was only moments before the end of the fourth and last session that Maxime Soulet managed to put the SRT-Corvette on pole, by only … 1-thousand of a second. This is without doubt the smallest gap ever measured in the Mediagroep Van Dyck Belcar.

All with all, the weather didn’t spoil the qualifications of the 24 hours too much. There was no rain on Wednesday and many teams tried to secure a good spot on the grid, as weather predictions for Thursday were rather bad. This resulted in a lively and open night session of almost three hours. Anthony Kumpen took provisional pole in his GLPK-Corvette C5R by setting a time of 1.29.032. Maxime Soulet, in the SRT Corvette C5R, was second quickest, one and a half second behind, while Marc Goossens drove the big Eurotech LM600 to third position.
ProsPeed (Porsche), G&A (Mosler) and CEO Racing had a good battle for fourth overall and first in class-2. Ultimately, it was Prospeed taking the provisional spoils.
Class-3 saw a good battle between the Ultima of Belgium Racing and the Porsches of Speedlover, CEO Racing and NGT. Van der Zwaan (Speedlover) showed quickest by only 5-hundreds of a second.
First Motorsport did not have a good time as both cars had technical problems.

The second session, on Thursday morning was a wet one. Half of the teams went out and secured a rain set-up, as the race will without any doubt be partly a wet one. Jurgen Van Hover (Speedlover) was the only victim as he set his Porsche into the wall in the Bianchi turn.

Surprisingly, the third and fourth sessions were dry again. On a drying track Kris Wauters went off and damaged the AD Sport Porsche rather heavily. The AD crew will do everything to get the car back for Saturday.

But the battle for pole was wide open again. Behind the Corvette duo, it was Goossens in his Marcos securing third spot in 1’30”377, whil Gino Kenis took first spot in class-2 and fourth overall. ProSpeed was fifth in class and both Porsches of CEO sixth and seventh.
In Class-3, the Ultima of Belgium Racing was able to beat the Speedlover. Behind the British GT, the Porsche of First Motorsport, the Ultima biggest rival in the rankings, came home second and the German Porsche crew of GS Motorsport was third.
Finally, the fastest guest was François Duval in the Accent Racing Porsche Supercup.

The race will start on Saturday 17.00 CET.
